Friends, I'm just sharing something that scares the hell out of me...

Ini adalah senarai tuntutan IFC yang di sokong oleh Ambiga....

i. Seseorang anak yang dilahirkan oleh ibu bapa orang Islam tidak seharusnya secara terus menjadi orang Islam.

Say they approved this, what would you do, bila anak kita, yang dilahirkan oleh ibu bapa Islam, dibesarkan sebagai seorang Islam, tetapi bila berumur 18 tahun nak jadi bukan Islam? parents will have no say at all!

ii. Orang-orang bukan Islam yang telah memeluk agama Islam hendaklah diberikan kebebasan untuk kembali kepada agama asal mereka (murtad) dan tidak boleh dikenakan tindakan undang-undang.

Macam mana nak protect saudara baru macam ni?

iii. Sebarang kes pertukaran agama orang Islam kepada bukan Islam tidak sepatutnya dikendalikan oleh Mahkamah Syariah tetapi dikendalikan oleh Mahkamah Sivil.

iv. Tidak perlu dicatatkan didalam kad pengenalan seseorang Muslim bahawa ia beragama Islam.

To me tak pernah ada masalah pon ada tulis Islam kat ic tu... Kalau ada yang rasa bermasalah, tolong share ngan saya kenapa ye supaya kita nampak apa masalah sebenar. :-)

v. Orang bukan Islam tidak perlu dikehendaki menganut agama Islam sekiranya ingin berkahwin dengan orang Islam. Orang Islam hendaklah dibenarkan keluar daripada Islam (murtad) sekiranya ingin berkahwin dengan orang bukan Islam tanpa boleh dikenakan apa-apa tindakan undang-undang.

kalau betul, anak-anak jadi apa? Generasi kan datang jadi generasi macam mana pulak?

vi. Seseorang atau pasangan suami isteri yang menukar agamanya dengan memeluk agama Islam tidak patut diberikan hak jagaan anak.

Sapa pula yang dapat anak2 mereka? Kalau bawah umur lagi anak-anak mereka macam mana? Tak ke bakal menimbulkan kekecohan yang lebih teruk? Dengan undang-undang sedia ada pon susah nak selesaikan isu sebegini....

vii. Orang-orang bukan Islam yang mempunyai hubungan kekeluargaan dengan seseorang yang memeluk Islam hendaklah diberi hak menuntut harta pusakanya selepas kematiannya.

Tang harta nak pulak? So down to dollar and cent gak kan...

viii. Kerajaan hendaklah menyediakan dana yang mencukupi untuk membina dan menyelenggara rumah-rumah ibadah orang bukan Islam sebagaimana kerajaan menyediakan dana yang serupa untuk masjid.

Hmmmm.... Lepas tu Kerajaan dituduh tidak mendokong Islam sepenuhnya....

ix. Orang-orang bukan Islam hendaklah dibenarkan dan tidak boleh dihalang daripada menggunakan perkataan-perkataan suci Islam dalam percakapan dan sebagainya.

Apa pendapat yang lebih arif? Lepas ni ayat suci Islam, hanya sekadar bahasa? Nauzubillah....

x. Bible dalam bahasa Malaysia dan Bahasa Indonesia sepatutnya dibenarkan untuk diedarkan kepada umum secara terbuka.

Sekarang tak benarkan pon, kerajaan dah dituduh membenarkan murtad. kalau dibenarkan, tak tahu la apa nak jadi.

xi. Pelajaran agama bukan Islam untuk penganut agama itu hendaklah diajar disemua sekolah.

Kalau betul cara, tak mustahil boleh dijalankan. Tapi, kalau macam tu, tak bayah la sekolah Cina dan India, school system semua samakan je la...

xii. Program-program berunsur Islam dalam bahasa ibunda sesuatu kaum hendaklah ditiadakan. Program dakwah agama lain selain Islam pula hendaklah dibenarkan untuk disiarkan dalam bahasa ibunda masing-masing.

Pulak dah... Depa juga yang nak lebih. Sedih mengenangkan ada juga umat Islam yang sokong tuntutan ini.

xiii. Orang-orang Islam yang membayar zakat tidak sepatutnya dikecualikan daripada membayar cukai pendapatan dan wang hasil zakat sepatutnya digunakan juga untuk keperluan orang-orang bukan Islam.

Lagi sekali.... Duit juga yang mereka nak... Bayar zakat, bukat kecualikan terus, still kena cukai pendapatan juga.

xiv. Sepatutnya Islam tidak disebut sebagai pilihan pertama masyarakat Malaysia seperti dalam soal pakaian menutup aurat kepada pelajar sekolah.

Setakat di sekolah disuruh pelajar bertudung, tak mengganggu pun. Sama seperti pelajar sesetengah sekolah Cina yang tidak membenarkan pelajar perempuan berambut panjang dan lelaki pula perlu hampir botak... Sebarang arahan pakaian uniform sekolah, sekadar melatih pelajar untuk berdisiplin dalam pemakaian. Di luar sekolah, mereka bebas memakai apa sahaja.

Ps/– Orang Melayu perlu sedar tentang ini.Banyak cara menolak Islam sekaligus, menindas Melayu dijalankan secara halus. Buka hati dan minda sebelum sokong sesiapa. Akal dikurniakan untuk berfikir...

Aduaiii... Apasal la tak abis-abis pasal perhimpunan haram. Nama pon haram, dok kalut nak buat buat apa? Sat lagi kalut satu KL. tak serik ke dengan perhimpunan lepas-lepas? Seronok ke kecoh-kecoh tengah pekan tu. Depa tak tau ka, dengan buat semua kerja tak berfaedah tu, berapa ramai orang yang tak berkenaan terkena tempias kesusahan.
sat lagi, bila polis tak mau bagi permit, depa kata polis barua kerajaan, bila bagi permit, polis buat kawalan, depa kata polis menyusahkan. Suruh buat kat stadium, depa kata "tak dak ummpphhh". Haish... Betoi ke dak mission depa ni?

Last night, as we were walking towards Tisya's reading class, tru all the shops and peoples...

Tisya : (mumbling...) Cheap perfume!
Mommy : what did you say kakak?
Tisya : Nothing!
Mommy : No, but I heard you say something?
Tisya : Nothing la mommy...
Mommy : You better tell me... I heard you say something?
Tisya : hehehe.... Cheap perfume..
Mommy : Why you say that?
Tisya : I smell something bad, and I say cheap perfume la...
Mommy : Who teach you to say that?
Tisya : Barbie Fairytale... The bad girl use cheap perfume to make the fairy work. The fairy sad oh no... cheap perfume... so I know la cheap perfume smell bad... Mommy : jaw dropped... enough said...

LOL... Luckly whoever that smell bad tu tak dengar apa yang Tisya cakap. If not, tak ke 'sentap hati mak nak' that fellow kan... But memang as we were wakling, I pon terbau someone pakai cheap perfume, tapi diam je la kan... Biar la dia nak pakai apa pun kan... Aduai.... Tisya, Tisya.... My Little Fashionista!

Bedtime chat is one of the things I love to do with Tisya... Some sort of girl talk la konon kan...
So this one night, as we crawl early in bed because daddy has to go out...

Tisya : Mommy, I have something to tell you...
Mommy : What is it?
Tisya : Wait for daddy to go la... (with giddy face and nenen in her hand...)
Mommy : Why? Just tell me la...
Tisya : Cannot! It's a secret... Only girl can know...

Hahaha... I was already laughing and teasing her... Guessing about what she want to tell me. Then after daddy went out...

Tisya : Mommy, you know, Pipi has new girlfriend...
Mommy : What? How do you know? I thought you are his girlfriend? (I'm teasing her again...)
Tisya : Noooo... I'm not Pipi girlfriend. I'm just his friend! ( Started to get annoyed...)
Mommy : Ok..ok... tell me now, how do you know Pipi has girlfriend?
Tisya : Pipi told me la... when I was at Nanna's house...
Mommy : What else Pipi said?
Tisya : Pipi said I'm no longger his girlfriend because Pipi has new girlfriend at school.
Mommy : But you said you are not his girlfriend?
Tisya : eeiiisshhh... Mommy ni... Memang I'm not his girlfriend. Pipi said I'm his girlfriend. Kan daddy said I cannot have boyfriend...
Mommy : So you ok Pipi has new girlfriend?
Tisya : Yeah... I'm ok... but I'm a bit jealous... ( what? my baby knows how to be jealous already..)
Mommy : Really... why are you jealous? You are not even his girlfriend?
Tisya : I'm jealous because Pipi keep on talking about his girlfriend. He said he kiss his girlfriend. next time if I go to nanna's house, I'm gonna slap him if he keep on talking about his girlfried...
Mommy : but you cannot do that? Biar la Pipi ada girlfriend. You are still his friend. Tak baik tau slap orang.
Tisya : nooo... I only going to slap him if he talk about his girlfriend.
Mommy : wow... you are that jealous...
Tisya : No... just a little bit. I think next time I don't want to play with Pipi la..

Huhuhu... my baby dah tau jealous. Kisahnye, this boy Pipi, cucu neighbour Nanna Tisya. This boy kalau nampak Tisya, dia punya drama, Grade A... Panggil Tisya sweetheart, darling bagai.... So maybe thats why Tisya a bit jealous because the attention is suddenly not to her.... But no worries, the next time Tisya went to her Nanna's house, Pipi already calling... Tisya, My sweetheart, are you here?

Yeah... kids will be kids... We just need to guide them all the time... Just let them grow...(tho it's hard to do, almost, all the time...huhuhu...)... Tisya, no matter what, Mommy hope you'll come to me... Just tell me anything... I love you Tisya...

Lagu Negaraku

Tiba-tiba je entry Lagu Negaraku...
Last week, I pergi sports day Tisya. As usually, masa perasmian, sure ada nyanyi lagu Negaraku, lagu sekolah dan lain-lain lagu yang berkaitan. So masa lagu Negaraku, I pon dengan semangat nyanyi sama. Tapi yang sedihnya, budak-budak sekolah, still ada yg berlari ke sana ke mari. Tak terkesan langsung dengan lagu kebangsaan yang sedang berkumandang. Tapi ok lagi, takpe, nama pon budak-budak. Sekali, ada juga pak cik-pakcik dan makcik-makcik yang sama je dengan budak-budak tadi.

Tak boleh nak kata apa la... Apa salahnya berdiri tegak diam-diam, kalau tak nak nyanyi sekali pon sebagai menghormati lagu kebangsaan. Setidak-tidaknya menghormati majlis. Kalau nak kata tak educated, tengokkan pakaian dan aksesori lebih dari educated.Jadi, apa yang I nak katakan cuma, kalau kita nak ajar anak-anak kita sayangkan negara, kita dulu kena sayangkan negara. Hormatkan lagu kebangsaan nampak macam perkara kecil, tetapi impaknya sangat besar. Sama-samalah kita belajar berdiri tegak bila dengar lagu kebangsaan sambil menerap semangat patriotik dalam diri kita.

I'm sure everyone have been in my situation; stuck in a confined spaced, eg, the lift with somebody with bad BO! OMG... Tolong la, walaupun anda jatuh dalam kategori tidak mempunyai bau badan, tolong la gunakan DEODORANT! kecuali for those who are allergic to deodorants....

I think we have to educate people to take care of their personal hygiene. So many awareness campaign have been carried out for so many reason... why not about BO? Most of us couldn't bring our self to tell that person that he/she stink! But that poor soul most probably immune with his/her own body odour.

Kesian tau.. pakai cantik-cantik, sekali ada BO. Bayangkan kalau nak pergi interview ke, nak jumpa bakal mertua ke, tak ke pengsan nanti... kurang 50 markah. Elok-elok nak dapat kerja ke, silap-silap tak dapat.

So for those out there, be aware of your own body odour. Pakai la deodorant . Kalau ada perfume, pakai la sikit, api perfume pulak jangan la sampai too overwhelming pulak... tapi in next entry la pulak pasal too much perfume ye... Sekurang-kurangnya, dengan being aware of our surrounding juga, kita dapat sama-sama selesa berada di tempat awam. Go Deodorants!

Her Story ~ "Potong Q"

Yesterday we follow Daddy to support one of his fellow Pemuda, Iskandar, branch meeting. Then, it's time for makan...

Tisya : Mommy, I'm hungry. Lets go take food...
Mommy : Ask Daddy to take you please. Mommy have to take care of Dadek.
Tisya : ohh man... Daddy jom take food.
Daddy : Wait la.. the line is too long...
Tisya : It's ok. I can go myself.

So Tisya just went to the end of the line and line up. Waiting patiently for her turn. Then I told Daddy, please go teman your baby girl. Daddy went and came back. daddy said, Iskandar ask her what she wants, then...

Tisya : It's ok. In my school, we cannot potong Q. We have to wait in line. And I want to see what food they have from the beginning.
Daddy : ( In awe, walk straight back to me to tell me what Tisya said)

LOL... I was so proud of my baby girl. After waiting there for so long and the best part, she just take 2 pieces of sotong ball, 1 crab stick, and 1 karipap. Looking at her plate...
Mommy : You said you are hungry, why you take so little food?
Tisya : It's ok. I can go again later. maybe for dessert. I saw sugar donuts and watermelons. After I finished my food, I go.

Sure enough, after finishing her food, she went happily for her, so call, dessert., 1 sugar donuts and 2 pieces of watermelons...

I was so proud of my baby... Suddenly I fell that she's growing so fast... Mommy love you so much Tisya. I wish I can spend more time with you baby girl.

It's been 2 years, since we lost Ayah.

2 years ago, Ayah left us... without saying anything.. he just left with a smile on his face...
Ayah, I wished I had more time with you. I really do....
I admit that I never want to be "you" when I grow up,but I never want anyone else as a father.
You tought me a lot of things that I realized only after you left.

BPA Free feeding equipment.

Lately, theres buzz going around about BPA in feeding equipment especially baby feeding bottles. Government also have taken action to ban the bottle in near future. Akan tetapi, mengapa ramai yang make big fuss about why goverment did't implement the ban immediately? Ok, mula-mula lets see...

*What is BPA or Bisphenol A?
BPA is a chemical used in polycarbonate plastics and is used extensively in consumer products ranging from baby bottles to coffee makers. It can also be found in products such as laptop computers, CDs, car parts, water filters, and as linings in food and drink cans.

*What are the dangers for children?

Future fertility - BPA passes through the placenta from mother to baby, mimicking the behaviour of the natural hormone oestrogen. Even low levels of exposure while the baby is developing can cause lasting changes in reproductive and metabolic development.

Behavioural problems - Several studies have found that Bisphenol A at extremely low levels causes changes in brain structure and behavior in rats which scientists argue show the same reaction in humans.

Cancer - some studies have found that early exposure to BPA during infancy increases the risk of breast and prostate cancer in later

So, bagi parents yang rasa kerajaan tak patut tangguh pengharaman botol sebegini, apa kata look it this way,
Kerajaan kena buat keputuasan dengan memikirkan banyak pihak. Jadi bagi parents yang asyik salahkan pihak lain, sampaikan isu botol apa nak bagi anak sendiri pakai, cuba fikir sendiri. Kerajaan dah announced kata BPA tu bahaya, sebagai parents, kita la decide sendiri nak pakai botol jenis apa untuk anak kita. Tak kisah la dah ban di kedai atau tidak. Yang nak beli kita, bukan penjual paksa pon kita nak beli botol apa.

Jadi, as parents, pilih la betul-betul apa yang kita nak beri pada anak-anak kita.Bukan sebab kerajaan ban atau tidak, tetapi atas dasar tanggungjawap terhadap kesihatan anak-anak dimasa hadapan.

* Mungkin lepas ni terdiam la orang-orang yang kata saya berlagak sebab beli botol mahal untuk anak-anak saya. :-)

Keldai Dadah

Semalam ada lagi terbaca pasal mangsa sindiket sebegini, jadi "keldai dadah". Sindiket offer mangsa dengan percutian percuma, naik flight mahal, duduk hotel mewah and siap bagi pocket money sekali. Too good to be true right? But still some people still fall for it. Kalau terlepas, nasib baik. Kalau tertangkap, maka bermulalah mimpi ngeri mereka. Just lucky for this girl, 7 months je masuk penjara, ada yang lain tu, sampai lifetime pon ada...

This makes me wonder, why did they fall for it? Sebab desakan hidup ke, sebab advanture ke, or simply sebab they are realy naive. Tak sangka langsung depa kena trick.... Anyhow, those yang jadi mangsa sebab nak cepat kaya, memang kesian, Kononnya nak rasa living the high life, but end up going tru hell and not even sure they will be coming back. Bagi yang naive ni? Terpinga-pinga je kena tangkap. kena pulak yang tgh tggu nak naik flight, ada yang minta tolong bawakan beg, to those yang selalu travel, PLEASE DON"T CARRY OTHER PEOPLE LUGGAGE! Kalau depa kata nak gi toilet or something, suruh depa tinggal kat security. Sound so sombong kan? But better be safe than sorry (hehehe...pesanan penaja sat).

Bottom line is, sesiapa yang rasa dapat offer from anyone yang suspious, even if rasa macam once in a lifetime offer, just be very careful... kalau melibatkan kena bawak barang yang tak tau apa isi kandungannya, hentikan lah... Tak berbaloi kalau tetiba tertangkap and end up meringkuk kat jail memana dalam dunia ni. Takde jalan mudah nak senang, dan tak susah juga nak susah...

Hopefuly takkan ada lagi anak-anak muda kita yang termasuk dalam jerat "Keldai dadah" lepas ni. Kesian pada keluarga yang tinggal. Berusaha gigih la untuk menikmati kesenangan hidup,berpijak dibumi nyata serta sentiasa bersyukur. Insyaallah kita boleh...

Her Story ~ Love Day

Tisya : mommy, yesterday we forgot to celebrate "love day" la...
Mommy : huh? "love day"? What's "love day" kak?
Tisya : love day la... we celebrate with everyone in our house...
Mommy : you mean with all the people we love?
Tisya : no... just with people sleeping in our house... like daddy, dadek, mama, mommy...
Mommy : ye la.. that people we love la... how to celebrate?
Tisya : aaa... my friend said...we have to go to 5 shops to celebrates?
Mommy : uiks... 5 shops? Buat apa?
Tisya : ye la... we go shopping la... first we go buy new clothes, then we go buy new shoes,
then we go dinner, after that we buy cake and then we buy presents...
Mommy : waahhh... mommy tak nak la celebrate love day... too expensive la...

Aduai... kalau la "Love Day" tu betul, jenuh la Mommy and daddy nak layan Tisya. I love it that that Tisya already can hold lengthy conversation with me, provided she's in to the the topic la... I heart you Batrisyia..

Tempat bersidang:
Bilik indah berhawa dingin.

Ahli persidangan:
19 orang.

Kelayakan Ahli:
1 orang SarjanaMuda Syari'ah; 1 orang SarjanaMuda Usuluddin; 1 orang SarjanaMuda Pengajian Qur^an; 1 orang SarjanaMuda Pengajian Sunnah; dan 15 orang Sijil 4 Thanawi
(setaraf dengan SPM).

Peserta yang akan ditemuduga:
2 orang (1 berkelulusan Sarjana Perbandingan Fiqah; dan
1 berkelulusan Doktor Falsafah Pengajian Hadith).

Skema soalan temuduga:
Maksud Islam, Iman dan Ihsan; hikmah berpuasa enam; hukum orang yang membuat 'aqiqah memakan sebahagian dari daging 'aqiqah; rukun serta syarat sebuah talqin yang baik; contoh keistimewaan mazhab Syafi'iy berbanding dengan mazhab lain; rasional qunut itu disunatkan; kesesatan golongan wahabi; bla; bla; bla.

Keputusan temuduga:
Semua peserta gagal. 1 orang gagal, kerana jawapan terlalu ringkas. Jawapan hanya dengan ayat-ayat Qur^an dan hadith tanpa terjemahan. Dia menjawab hanya dengan bahasa Arab, tanpa diselangseli dengan bahasa Melayu. 1 orang lagi gagal, kerana tidak menjawab sebarang soalan. Dia hanya sekadar tersenyum sahaja. Belum selesai temuduga, dia dah keluar.

ALOR Setar kini tidak seperti dulu. Saya yang jarang-jarang pulang dapat merasakan, ia kelihatan hambar. Bukan tujuan saya mahu membandingkan kerajaan dulu dan sekarang, tapi suasananya tidak seceria dulu. Orang Alor Setar pun berkata begitu.

Tanpa menjelaskan mengapa, mereka berkata, bandar raya itu kini hambar.

Dalam kemeriahan Aidilfitri sekarang, bandar raya itu dikunjungi oleh pelbagai golongan termasuk anak Kedah di perantauan yang menziarahi dari kawasan ke kawasan, dari taman ke taman, dari kampung ke kampung dalam daerah itu.

Sebelum ini, saya ada menerima berita-berita yang dihantar oleh wartawan Utusan Malaysia Kedah yang mengatakan bandar raya itu semakin kotor. Malah dalam satu analisis yang ditulis secara terus terang dan berani, mereka mengatakan Alor Setar kini sudah menjadi bandar raya sampah.

Pada masa itu, saya tidak dapat lagi bayangkan keadaan yang sebenar. Namun, kesempatan cuti raya hujung minggu lalu telah memberi gambaran betapa seriusnya keadaan bandar raya itu dengan sampah.

Kerajaan Pas yang bermotokan Membangun Bersama Islam itu gagal memperlihatkan ciri-ciri sebenar sebuah kerajaan Islam yang menitikberatkan kebersihan.

Sampah berlonggok merata-rata. Bau busuk sisa-sisa makanan, perut-perut ayam yang semakin mereput menusuk ke lubang hidung dan amat meloyakan. Suasana itu menyebabkan kunjungan beraya di rumah-rumah rakan taulan dan sanak saudara menjadi tidak selesa. Kita tidak selesa dan tuan rumah pun segan dengan kita.

Kita tidak pasti di mana silapnya sehinggakan pihak berkuasa tempatan gagal menangani masalah itu. Apakah mereka tidak cukup wang untuk menguruskan hal ehwal sampah ini? Apakah mereka tidak cukup orang untuk menguruskannya? Atau apa masalahnya?

Dengar kata, masalah itu berlaku kerana proses peralihan operasi angkut sampah yang akan diswastakan. Dengar kata juga pekerja kutip sampah boikot kerajaan negeri kerana mereka juga akan 'diswastakan'. Apa sekalipun, rakyat tidak mahu tahu semua itu. Apa yang mereka mahu tahu ialah sampah diangkat dan Alor Setar kembali indah seperti dulu.

Malah lebih mengharukan, ekoran masalah itu kerajaan Kedah kelmarin mengeluarkan arahan supaya sebarang aktiviti majlis rumah terbuka atau kenduri dimaklumkan terlebih dahulu kepada Majlis Bandaraya Alor Setar (MBAS) bagi mengatasi masalah longgokan sampah dan sisa makanan.

Arahan itu dikeluarkan oleh Exco Pembangunan Luar Bandar, Usahawan, Kerja Raya dan Pertanian negeri, Datuk Phahrolrazi Zawawi. Beliau berkata, arahan itu bagi membolehkan MBAS menyediakan tong sampah bersesuaian.

Dan yang lucunya, tong sampah untuk majlis rumah terbuka itu bukannya percuma. Ia akan disewa pula dengan harga antara RM100 dan RM150 mengikut saiz tong sampah berkenaan.

Lebih melucukan, keputusan ''untuk idea yang bernas itu" diambil hasil mesyuarat antara kerajaan negeri dan MBAS di Alor Setar, pagi kelmarin.

Mesyuarat tergempar itu diadakan khusus ekoran aduan warga Alor Setar yang sudah tidak tertahan dengan masalah longgokan sampah semasa sambutan Hari Raya Aidilfitri ini yang mengganggu penduduk.

Masalah sampah ini sebenarnya bukan baru. Ia terjadi selepas kerajaan baru pimpinan Pas ini mula mengambil alih tahun lepas. Tindakan terhadap rungutan penduduk mengenai masalah itu terlalu perlahan untuk dilaksanakan.

Ini adalah pengakuan seorang penduduk di Taman Tengku Yaakob kepada saya:

''Sampah di rumah saya sudah tidak diangkat sejak sebelum raya lagi. Kami sudah gelisah dengan keadaan ini. Sampah bertimbun-timbun, bau pun busuk. Percayakah saudara, sampah-sampah di pasar Ramadan di hari terakhir juga tidak diambil dengan sempurna sehingga ke hari ini.''

Bukan di taman ini sahaja, Taman Saga lagi teruk, Taman Kastam, Taman Derga Jaya dekat Jalan Datuk Kumbar pun teruk - pendek kata seluruh bandar raya ini semuanya kotor bertimbun dengan sampah dan sisa makanan. Malah di pejabat kerajaan dan kompleks-kompleks membeli-belah pun sampah tidak terangkat sehingga berminggu-minggu.

Katanya, beliau hairan dengan keadaan yang berlaku. Semasa kerajaan dulu suasananya tidak begini teruk. Kontraktor sampah bekerja dengan pantas. Lari sana, lari sini untuk mengangkut sampah-sampah dari rumah ke rumah, kata penduduk itu lagi.

Pengakuan seorang lagi rakan saya dari Taman Derga Jaya: ''Sampah-sampah yang berlonggok sampai berulat. Saya sudah mengadu kepada majlis perbandaran, tapi sia-sia, kepada surat khabar pun sudah saya mengadu... semuanya sia-sia juga.''

Sekali lagi penduduk itu menyalahkan kerajaan sekarang. ''Kerajaan dulu tak macam ni,'' katanya.

Bukan sahaja sampah, rumput-rumput juga tidak dipotong. Nampaknya pengindahan Alor Setar tidak berlaku dengan lancar dan sempurna. Memang benar kata warganya, Alor Setar kini sudah terlalu hambar.

Kesimpulan saya ialah Alor Setar yang usianya lebih tua daripada usia demokrasi Amerika Syarikat kini sudah terlalu kotor.

Seorang penduduk Cina dari Taman Saga ada memberitahu seorang rakan, yang saya petik di sini: ''BN dulu teruk juga, tapi Pas memerintah lagi teruk.''

So let us try to understand what grassroots support means in this context.

Let us look at grass, its roots and how to create grassroots.

First one must identify a plot of land. Then remove any shade giving trees by cutting them down. Then plant the grass. And why would someone plant grass in a given area. The answer is simple, for the grass satisfies the needs of the one who plants it and makes him its master. He can trim it the way he likes it (unlike towering shade giving tress), walk on it, step on, roll on it, run on it, play on it, jump on it, stomp on it, use it and even abuse it. The grass will always be there for the master to do whatever the master wants to do to with it. These are the simple reasons as to why he keeps a lawn. It becomes the home turf of the master to do whatever he wants with it.

But there are always conditions for the master to enjoy and even abuse the grass.

The grass is forever dependant on the master’s handy work. The master must cut the grass to keep it neat, water it from time to time and ensure a seasonal fertilization to keep it healthy. But above all, the master must ensure that if there is a single plant in the lawn that is likely to grow up as a tree, that plant must be immediately destroyed otherwise the potential shade giving tree might ‘kill’ all the grass around it.

The grass serves no useful purpose to any others except its master. It is not like a big tree that provides shade and home for nestling birds that are hardworking, fruits for hungry animals which risk searching for it, create a healthy fauna and flora around it and even sometimes acting as protector for weak animals by allowing them to grip its bosom thus protecting them against the advancing stronger animals.

The grass has its constant needs and is ever dependent on its master unlike a towering tree which only needs some care in its early growing stage but after sometime it grows independently without the need for a constant care and the tree eventually goes on to create a healthy ecosystem around it.

And what if the master fails to trim, water and fertilize the grass? Rest assured that the lawn and its surroundings can turn wild and dangerous even for its own master.

The lawn full of grassroots that is ‘not cared for’ will see thorns and thistles. If the master walks on it, he may suffer the needles chill. Slowly the lawn that the master had once stepped on with ease will now give way to lalang. And lalang is a very dangerous type of grass variety. The lalang itself is sharp edged and it can literally injure the master in masterful ways. And if it is not injuring the master, it can be dangerous in other ways. It can sway according to the direction of the wind; cause a wild fire that can turn the landscape ugly. You can burn it but it will quickly grow back. A lalang dominated lawn can invite poisonous snakes that are a safety hazard for everyone including the master.

This far, I had metaphorically described the other definition of grassroots and how dangerous it is for this nation and its nation building agenda. It dries up our national coffers. It strips mother earth, bare and bleeding, her tears turn to bloody polluted rivers. And she is raging and all those depending on her will one day run to a standstill if urgent efforts are not taken to arrest this occurrence.

A grassroots concept by this definition is a society that is forever dependent on politicians whose crumbs sprinkling sleight of hand is an old trick that still blinds a sizeable voting population. These politicians behave like feudal lords; they refuse to nurture a younger generation of leaders and cannot be dislodged because of their vast material wealth though suffering from intellectual bankruptcy.

“The will of the people caused an avalanche for the DPJ,” the Asahi Shimbun said in an editorial. “But if we ask whether this shows confidence in a DPJ government, the answer is probably ’no’.” Voters are “half-hopeful, half-worried” about a new government, the liberal daily said.

The regional Tokyo Shimbun said it was “doubtful whether the people’s will that gave the DPJ a landslide win has also recognised its ability to manage a government.” “It may be more reasonable to think it was an avalanche to the better of two alternatives,” it said in an editorial.

The conservative Sankei Shimbun said in an editorial that “people focused on punishing the LDP rather than rewarding DPJ policies.”

The top-selling Yomiuri Shimbun said voters are “rather worried” over the untested DPJ’s capability to govern. “They fared well under the slogan of ’government change’. Now that it has come true, what is important is how they will manage a government in real politics,” it said. The Democratic Party won more than 300 of the 480 seats in the lower house of parliament, which designates the prime minister, according to media projections. Agak terlambat entry ini, dah masuk 3 Ramadhan dah :) Rewind sikit ...
1st Ramadhan: Jumaat tu selepas ambik Tich, kami ke Carrefour Wangsa Maju, membeli groceries sikit2 utk sahur di bulan puasa la. Antara yg wajib ialah cereals, oats instant (hanya wujud kat rumah kami pada bulan posa saja), lychee, agar-agar, dan ... gula (mommy suka masak sirap sendiri utk bulan puasa) dan ... tgk la gambar ... gula habis!
The next day, kami ke Jusco AU, nak beli barang2 basah, memang tak beli kat carrefour sebab macam dah tak fresh sangat and byk dah habis, nak cari taugeh, daging, coriander and segala produce la. Pun tak dapat beli gula ...
Masa ke kedai mamak beli nyok mesin (kelapa parut) nak buat santan pun tak dak jugak gula ..
Tapi berjaya la jugak menu kami pada 1st day posa tu, kanji a.k.a bubur lambuk masak sendiri, kerabu taugeh-kerang, ayam goreng kunyit, agar2 lychee, sirap (f&n ... bukan masak sendiri), pas tu Aunty bersama Apoi (uncle paul tisya) datang join bawak cucur udang+kuah kacang,
perghhh .... lengkap menu aloq staq
2nd Day: beli kat Bangsar, ayam awea and we all pulak bukak posa kat rumah Aunty, pun tak dapat beli gula kat village grocer ...

I picked up my phone and started SMSing one of the senior sales people of Toyota, Tengku Mazlan, (younger brother of Tg. Mahaleel former Proton's boss). Asking for the price
I then called my online car encyclopedia, and chat about this prius, he said that heard about it cost something around MYR170k .
What??????????????????
It supposed to be priced lower than Camry (elsewhere yes ...)

When I reached KL and about to enter the Batu Muda area (PM Najib was there launching some BN program) my phone rang again, unknown number
"Hello Sir, this is Chiew calling from Toyota. My Boss Tengku gave me your number"
Me: Yes Chiew. I did ask him about the P-Rius or Prius or whatever you guys called it
Chiew: Prius. And you are?
Me: Hisham ... yeah how much is it?

Me: Really? why so expensive?
Chiew: don't know sir, probably our tax scheme
Me: I thought that we have this green ministry kind of thing, no special price for green car?

1st August Anti-ISA Rally Pix

We went to buy songkok for my sunday's function at Masjid India on Saturday Aug. 1. We took the STAR LRT there (rapidKL ampang line). It was very peaceful in the morning. But, we saw few truck loads of people been detained, and we thought that the rally should be cancel because police took the preventive measures.
We went for lunch, bryani kambing (without the angsa) and planned to drop by at Sogo after lunch to buy tich's silicone teats. Suddenly, as we entering Jalan TAR, there was few huge commotions here and there and the Police started asking people to disperse. When we were in front of one shop before SOGO, somebody yelled reformasi and people started chanting. The shop's guard was closing the shop and luckily let us in when he saw Tich. We stuck there for more than an hour and managed to snap few pix.
Our first hand experience.
My questions:
1. I'm not racist, but this anti-ISA sentiments was championed by non-malays MP, but why hardly can find non-malays there?
2. no ethnic Indian there! where is HINDRAF? after their leaders being freed apa perjuangan sudah selesai ker?
3. What for all this? Tak boleh ka buat kempen macam earth hour, tutup lampu or wearing pink tie on wednesday ker?
4. And that moron Tian Chua ran away to bangkok after the rally (check his tweet), he admits that the event is politically motivated.
5. Too much!

Another By-Election: Permatang Pasir, N11 Penang

My deepest condolence to the family of Allahyarham Mohd Hamdan Abd Rahman, the Penang State Assemblyman for N11 Permatang Pasir.
According to his blog, Alor Star born Mohd. Hamdan was a former student and teacher at my alma mater Sultan Abdul Hamid College. Another lost of a great collegian who aimed for strong and courage; for virtues and for values.

Since the last GE in March '08, this is the 7th by-election so far, and the 5th one due to the demises of our YBs.

We can't stop death and by-elections, it is the price of democracy!
But in any Human Resources philosophy, the risk mitigation for the cost of replacement need to be consider. In the case of politician replacement, it is not only the tangible fat tabs that we need to scrutinize. The sociology impact, the psychology and all other factors that might be intangible at first but when we dig deep, it is very very expensive ...

According to our constitution, the minimum age to be an elected rep for Dewan Rakyat and DUN is 21. But no provision stated the maximum age. Should we?

Shall SPR need to impose a FOMEMA-style medical check up for the YBs?

Any insurance companies want to provide YBs scheme coverage for SPR, at least could cover certain cost of replacement?

I am very sorry if this posting could angry some but it is not meant for the late YB Hamdan, may he rest in peace. It is a call for a risk mitigation approach to protect the taxpayer Ringgits. A duty responsible for us the livings.

“Jika perbincangan dengan UMNO untuk kebaikan tidak apalah. Awal-awal lagi apa yang kita sekat adalah (perbincangan) bentuk politik,” katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika mengulas kenyataan Presiden Pas, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang mengenai Pas terbuka untuk mengadakan perbincangan dengan mana-mana pihak termasuk UMNO untuk menyelesaikan isu berkaitan agama.

Namun Abdul Hadi menyatakan perbincangan dengan UMNO perlu berlandaskan al-Quran dan hadis.

1. Menurut PAS, agama tak boleh dipisahkan dengan politik and vice versa.
2. Tapi sekarang kena cerita asing-asing pulak antara agama dan politik.
3. PAS memperjuangkan politik itu sendiri duduk dalam Islam. Siasah Islamiah atau Politik Islam.
4. Tapi bila Tok Guru kata "Bincey hok Isle saja boleh, hok politik tok sey", apa bezanya Politik daripada kacamata PAS dan Islam daripada kacamata PAS?
5. PAS kata UMNO parti asabiah, memperjuangkan bangsa semata2, tapi Perlembagaan Malaysia kata constitutionally semua orang Melayu di Malaysia adalah pengganut Islam. Jadi apabila PAS mengatakan Pertubuhan Kebangsaan Melayu Bersatu atau UMNO itu bukan parti Islam adalah sesuatu yg tak tepat la. Segala Parti orang Melayu di Malaysia ni adalah Parti Islam la.
6. Habih la ni macam mana? Tok Guru kata dah terpisah dah Islam dan Politik dalam PAS.
7. PAS ooo PAS .... Demo la ni tidok serupo mulo la ....

Teksi Tales - 1

Aku pun berdiri di bibir jalan menunggu teksi. Sebuah teksi sampai - aku membuka pintu untuk masuk. Masuk ke dalam sebuah teksi samalah seperti memasuki sebuah dunia yang baru. Dua susuk yang tidak pernah berkenalan sepanjang hidup tiba-tiba akan bekongsi untuk sementara waktu dalam sebuah ruang yang sempit.

Seperti Stagecoach filem John Ford – manusia sering terperangkap dalam ruang dan waktu dimana mereka tidak memiliki pilihan – jika apa-apa berlaku.

Bila memasuki ke dalam teksi mata aku sering liar memerhati untuk meneliti siapakah susuk yang akan memandu aku pulang ke rumah. Mata akan perpandangan. Pemandu dan penumpang – dua susuk ini akan menilai baik budi manusia sebaik sahaja pintu kereta dibuka dan ditutup kembali.

Seenak sahaja punggung aku di atas tilam pandak maka mata aku liar mencari - apakah ada tasbih Masehi yang bergantungan sebagai cara untuk mejauhi diri dari diganggu oleh mata-mata yang sering bekeliaran mencari kesalahan. Adakah Patong Biksu yang berperut gendut terpaku di jubin kaca sebagai doa pembuka pintu rezeki yang lumayan. Atau tulisan-tulisan Jawi yang penuh dengan kata-kata Arab yang akan membawa harapan agar terselamat dari kemalangan.

Mungkin ada terselit gambar Gautama atau Isa anak Mariam dari Nazareth di tepi laci kereta. Semua ini adalah bahasa yang membawa tanda dan makna. Inilah kata-kata pengenalan dari pemandu kepada penumpang.

Sebuah teksi adalah sebuah dunia untuk si pemandu. Dalam ruang kecil ini dia menjadi saksi alam – dia melihat – dia makan – dia minum dan dia berehat. Ingatkan kembali kesah si pemandu yang benama Travis Bickle yang dimainkan oleh De Niro. Si Pemandu ini melayari seluruh kota New York di waktu malam ketika matanya menolak tidur. Travis meligari malam sehingga jatuh cinta dengan Jodie Foster.

Bila aku masuk ke dalam teksi aku melihat si pemandu – agak telah berumur – rambutnya setengah puteh. Aku cukup senang sekali apabila bersama dengan pemandu yang ramah. Tapi yang ini belum aku kenali ramah bahasanya. Jika pemandu ramah ertinya – perjalanan kami akan selesa walau pun jalan berasak-asak.

Biasanya - akulah yang akan memulakan surah dengan bertanya – dari mana tadi? Sebaik sahaja soalan ini keluar ertinya aku ingin berkenalan. Juga pertanyaan ini adalah tanda yang menyatakan bahawa aku tidak memiliki niat jahat - untuk menyamun atau merompak.

Dari cermin pandang belakang Dia memerhati muka aku. Dia menjawab. Lalu kami mesra bersembang. Dia telah memandu teksi selama 25 tahun. Dulu pernah menjadi pemandu kereta Tuan Mat Salleh – ini ketika Tanah Melayu baru merdeka. Mencuba kerja-kerja lain tapi gagal. Kota ini adalah dunianya. Memandu adalah ilmunya. Ada lima anak – tiga telah berumah tangga. Dia telah menjadi Datuk. Kini tinggal dengan isteri dan dua anak di Puchung.

Dia bertanya tentang aku. Lalu aku terangkan – aku tinggal dengan tiga ekor kucing dan saekor anjing. Dia ketawa. Setiap kali aku mendapat soalan ini maka inilah jawapan yang akan aku berikan. Biasanya jawapan aku ini akan disusul dengan satu lagi petanyaan – kenapa tidak kahwin. Maka aku akan menjawab – aku belum cukup modal. Dia ketawa lagi.

Lalu aku pula bertanya apakah ini teksi sendiri. Dia menerangkan - bukan. Dia menyewa teksi ini. Dia tidak memiliki permit untuk memiliki sebuah teksi. Setiap hari Dia wajib membayar 35 ke 40 ringgit kepadaa tuan empunya. Lalu Dia bercerita – empat jam awal kerjanya - ke hulu ke hilir di sekeliling kota - bukan untuk dirinya. Dia wajib menyediakaan 40 ringgit dahulu sebelum dirinya sendiri mendapat upah.

Kini Dia menyatakan kerisauan – harga minyak naik – harga barang makanan naik. Dan bila hujan datang rezeki bertambah sempit. Kereta yang berpusu-pusu di dalam kota akan menjadikan Dia kehilangan banyak waktu. Pernah dan semakin selalu Dia hanya mendapat 15 ke 50 ringgit sehari. Tetapi si empunya teksi masih wajib dibayar sewanya dengan penuh. Ertinya Dia terhutang.

Banyak teksi yang aku naiki – semua pemandu berkesah sademikian. Amat jarang aku temui si pemandu yang juga si pemilik. Siapakah agaknya si pemilik teksi ini. Syarikat siapakah tuan empunya teksi-teksi yang berselirat dalam kota kita ini. Alangkah lumayannya hidup tuan empunya teksi – tidak perlu bekerja – tidak perlu berhempas pulas. Hanya mengutip sewa.

Di jubin kereta aku ternampak wajah Ganesha - terlekat. Ketika aku kecil aku cukup hairan dengan wajah ini – lelaki berhidungkan belalai gajah. Kali pertama aku melihat muka ini – ketika aku belum bersekolah lagi. Ketika itu tanah melayau ini masih dimiliki oleh orang puteh. Aku ternampak ‘manusia-gajah’ ini di kotak bedi – rokok daun – dari India. Bila aku mendewasa barulah aku sedar bahawa nama ‘manusi-gajah’ ini ialah Ganesha - jelmaan seorang dewa yang akan membantu umat manusia dalam kesusahan.

Demi Zeus – inilah sifat manusia – mereka menyatakan terima kaseh dengan pelbagai cara. Di dalam bilik teksi yang sempit pun mereka bersujud kepada Yang Esa. Lorong-lorong hidup di bumi ini berselirat dan berselerak - semuanya menuju ke kota yang sama.

Kemudian aku teringat tentang satu berita yang baru aku baca: bahawa kerajaan telah menghebahkan satu dasar teksi yang baru. Semua teksi akan menjadi – pemandu/pemilik. Lalu aku surahkan berita baik ini kepada Dia.

‘Sekarang umur telah 62 tahun… apa saya boleh buat lagi. Kalau saya muda dahulu… bagus… sekarang nak pandu lima jam satu hari pun susah.’

Aku senyap apabila mendengar jawapan dari Dia. Bayangkan selama 25 tahun Dia memburuh – membanting tulang – tidak pernah mendapat kesenangan. Baru aku sedar umurnya telah 62 tahun. Dia lahir sebelum negara ini wujud. Dia lah warga asli pribumi tanah ini. Tapi Dia masih lagi mewajibkan dirinya memandu untuk mencari makan.

Teksi membelok ke lorong rumah aku. Aku pun sampai. Membayar tambang dan Dia beredar. Apabila teksi itu meluncur maka disitulah berakhirnya persahabatan kami. Aku jarang akan menoleh lagi. Sesudah membayar tambang aku menapak pulang.

Aku sedar tidak mungkin aku akan bertemu sekali lagi dengan Dia. Aku cukup yakin yang kemungkinan untuk bertemu sekali lagi cukup tipis kerana selama lebih sepuluh tahun - aku sering menggunakan khidmat teksi - hanya sekali aku berpeluang memasuki kembali teksi yang sama.

Aku tidak tahu berapa jumlah teksi dalam kota kita ini. Pasti banyak. Ini menjadikan pertemuan kali kedua amat susah. Mungkin juga si pemandu beralih pekerjaan. Mungkin beralih kawasan. Atau seperti Dia – jika umur telah larut - memandu teksi - adalah satu pekerjaan yang maha berat.

Bila aku menaiki tangga rumah aku teringat bagaimana sebahagian besar hidup Dia adalah di dalam teksi. Lapan jam atau dua belas jam sehari Dia beligar-ligar dalam teksi. Kalau di campurkan semua waktu itu berapa tahun agaknya dari jumlah 62 tahun hidupnya di atas bumi ini.

We went for the Hassan Ali ceramah last Tuesday night.
The bunting showed that Husam, Hassan Ali, Mat Sabu & Abe Uji Ikan gonna be there.
I was telling my wife that since only the day before was the nomination day, and the official campaign period is just started, NO WAY that the Calon is going to be there!

After enjoying our bee-hoon sup Kedah at the one of the stall we were eagerly waiting for the Abe Uji. But the only Abe Uji that showed up was the pre-recorded video message from him!

And one Zaid Ibrahim (PAS Kelantan Secretary) not the ZICO ex-minister arrived in the middle of the event and claimed to be representing Husam and Abe Uji.

But what touched me most is the video, although the location is not the Staples Center but the impact is as good as the MJ eulogy.

We then tapau our air nira and heading home.

Probably you might want to check back how much the land cost per sq ft. It is not about building 45 low cost houses, the developer could easily absorbed it. RM 1M is chicken feet nowadays (quoting Ng Yen Yen)! Land in Penang is scarse commodity. probably can go easily around RM200/sq ft? (or more) so for a 1500 sq ft plot the land cost alone is 300k!
You might want to go to damansara perdana area there and check out the 'taman' re-settlement of the previous orang asli of Bukit Lanjan. The dudes in Buah Pala wants more than that! (and cost way than your 'naive' analysis)

And this High Chapparal people is not looking for 200k alone. The old folks don't really care much of the money and are law abiding people that refuse to quarell with the authorities. Typical Penangites. It is somebody that 'cucuk' them! Their greedy hopeless kids maybe?

If they fall under the 'kampung traditional' category, they must have the individual land title, as simple as that, even felda seetlers also have title for their residences plot!
If they are established squatters (150 years is way before Merdeka dude, and the recorded migration of Chinese is in 1870s (130++ yrs ago), the Indian migration by the Brits is in early 1900s after the Getah revolution, where this 150 yrs came from?), they might have file for TOL, furthermore, the area is not estate, the real reason of original settlers from India.
I'm not sure how far is this Kampong from the Little India district, (one of the nicest place in Penang)

But, if it is a govt (people) land, then the decision is made by the people (Penang EXCO is elected PEOPLE), including selling it or leasing it or anything for some amount of money that should come back to the govt acct (and some political fund to the ruling party maybe) for the benefit of everybody. The people govt did revising and reversing the infamous 'crooked' bridge project and compensate the developer, the e-kesihatan project, and endless list of project. LGE administration also did issue Stop Work Order for the double track. Delaying the clearance legally could cost the developer quite a huge hole in their pocket!

Something fishy la with this Buah Pala people. But I agree with you the PR govt in Penang not adapting the TOWS analysis (threats should be turn into oppoturnities instead!)and can I say not competent. Just recalled back how LGE make statement he can't open a bank account (the hardcore poor issue)

I spent first few years of my working life as an Instrumentation Engineer. We dealt a lot with TelCos test & measurement equipments from a simple amp-clamp to the complicated DWDM and chromatic dispersion test-gear (the one that requires you to understand Schrodinger Equation to operate). But, the recent development of a new 'test-gear' is really frightening me. The one that I called: The 'Islamometer'.

It is a develish state-of-the-art equipment that could measure how sure are you gonna go to heaven or hell! Powered by a close-minded circuit in a mediocre brain of the most Malay Muslims in the country. With just a prejudice glance and the result is ready almost instantaneously. You could be labelled ulamak, Islamic, Kafir, secular, munafik and supported the latest finding, Erdogan too!

Los Angeles is no longer the City of Angels, most people in Malaysia are angels that could determined and know you dosa/pahala monthly statement and even better, they could blacklisted you far worst than CTOS did. They are the demons in the human screensaver.

Don't judge people, we are supposed to be promoting Islam and be a good Muslims. I always jokingly telling my Jewish and Christians friends that Islam is the latest version of Abrahamic religions, and if in software world, the latest version will superceded the previous one and make it obsolete.

ABOUT 6,300 students obtained straight As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination in 2003. Out of these, 1,152 scored A1s in all subjects.

And then this thing with 300,000 candidates won't received their cert if the Ministry make it compulsory to pass (at least P8/E8) the English paper!

Time for school

My 4 years old (++) Tich is in her first year at the kindergarten this year.
She was born in mid-December, but since the school calendar in Malaysia begin in January, we have to enroll her this year. So, she'll have another year for pre-school next year (2010) and should begin her formal Standard 1 (age 7 by year of birth) in 2011 at the age of 6 years and 2 weeks.

Now a lady don from Tanjong Malim's UPSI is finalizing her suggestion on reducing the legal age for Std.1 by one year, but stated that she is not touching anything on implementation wise.
Hmmm ... play safe as usual, very typical ..

Both of us (my wife and me) were born in November, and we don't even have any problem with interacting in class. In fact, in my MBA class, only three of us that enrolled are actually below 30 years old on the first semester. (For the record, I received my MBA from the King at the age of 31). But, that is not the real apple-to-apple comparison when you talk about children brain development, IQ/EQ level, physical attributes and so on. It is just like comparing Macintosh and Washington's, both are apples, but one is a computer and the latter is a fruit.

Anyway, the dona might have a point there, but her safe domain prohibiting her from suggesting about the implementations. My trip. Arrived at London around 4 pm GMT Friday. I stayed at The Barn in Ruislip, Middlesex. A very lovely hotel. I'll post the pics later. The next day, we board The Eurostar from London to Brussels. A little bit crazy on Sunday to head for Amsterdam. Pictures are quite jumbled up. Dear All,
Dah bersawang dah blog ni ... both of us are very busy in May.
In fact, this new entry is posted from Leuven, a very nice student town just outside of the EU Headquarters in Brussel, Belgium. In front of my hotel is the infamous Stella Artois brewery.
I was here since last Saturday, and on Sunday we took an opportunity to go to Amsterdam by train.
Guess I really missing my baby gomok, last Sunday was in fact very sunny day, and some say the hottest day of 2009. In the train was one lady clad in tudung, probably an algiers ethnic Belgians and her 2 kids. The kakak about 7 yrs old and a 5 yrs old boy. Sound like they are speaking French rather than Flamish. The boy is a copycat of my gomok, very active and full of adrenaline all the way.
While I'm enjoying the view, dengar dia kena marah with his mom. And then I switch to movie mode and capture the video above.
Really miss my baby gomok ....

Amat meriah kempen Pemilu 2009. Poster2 Caleg (Calon Legislatif) membanjiri serata ceruk bumi Sang Saka Merah Putih. Kempen2 juga turut menggunakan media elektronik seperti tv.

Disebabkan semua caleg2 ini wajib mempunyai ijazah. Di belakang nama2 mereka tercatat ijazah mereka seperti SH (Sarjana Hukum aka Lawyer), SE (Sarjana Ekonomi). Kalau yang letak BA, B.Sc. itu pulak maknanya grad Oversea menurut my tour guide Bambang. Ada lebih kurang 34 parti berdaftar dan kertas undinya sangat besar utk memuatkan keseluruhan lambang parti2 yang bertanding.

I've been wanting to write something about my precious Tich for soooo long... Tich has started kindergarden since January. She has never been to anykind of real school before. But on her first day at school it was just like she been there already. She did not cry or anything eventhough Mommy n daddy have to carry her to the bathroom that particular morning(we still have to carry her tho...) and bathed her while she's still sleeping.

At school we get to see all sort of character. Some keep on crying for their mommie n daddies, and some just sit there like nothing elses matter and some just get along real fine. As for Tich, she was so cool. Just go into her class,greet the teacher and seat by her side. At first we thought she gonna freak out on her first day, but she seem fine. Then at lunch time, more like mid morning snack, the teacher ask the children to bring out their snacks, to our horror Tich doesn't have anything to snack on... Poor baby. I did not know that the children have to bring their own snack. I thought the school will snacks for them... She looked so sad. But soon after the break and they were lining up to go to the wash room, she was happy again. Just see how easy children forget their sadness. From that day on I always remembered to pack her snacks...

The second day went well. Tich even ask Mommy and daddy to go to work because she has a lot of thing to do at school... So sweet. She's getting busy. My baby is growing up so fast and starting to have her own activities, and she can do it without mommy and daddy.... After school we gat a list of extra curicular activities offered at her school. The list was stappled at her school uniform strap. So cute. Maybe to make sure mommy and daddy don't miss it. We read the list together and Tich started jumping up and down when she heard the word "ballet" n "painting". So we just enrolled her to ballet and art class. It was so easy because no we don't have to spend weekends to send her to those classes. So far she still excited about her classes.

Today, after almost two months at school, Tich is becoming more and more individual. We can see more on what she likes and dislike. she is more firm and persistent tho sometime can be a bit headstrong. We just hope that she will be a better person each day. and that she will be able to enjoy everyday of her life come what may.

I was glued to my recliner up till 4 in the morning! I can't sleep that night, thought that this movie could help me. It enters my domain when maestro A.R. Rahman won the Golden Globe for the best original soundtrack via this film.

A.R. Rahman is a different story, got one shop in Section 24 Shah Alam called AR Rahman Boys, probably worth a posting later.

Back to the Slumdog Millionaire, simple plot but touchy. A slumboy tea guy (chaiwalla) enter who want to be a millionaire show and guess what? All questions related to his life! From the flashback approach the film merged to a real time on its last quarter.

Only one Bollywood dancing scene and that's only during the credits.

And .... our Sentul slum is nothing compare to their JUHU. Blessed to be Malaysians!

She is good! No doubt about it. But this former national swimmer, although could not follow Michael Phelps' glory by winning tons of gold in the Olympic, she did follow Phelps controversy. And she is even better at it. Phelps just smoking pot, but she choose to go to cloud nine the other way.

It is sad that she was blackmailed, and some stern action need to be taken to the people responsible. It is against the law.
We do impressed with how she sacrificed building a family and raising kids for the sake of servicing the people.

But ....
1. Do we allowed any dude on the street to brag about how he scored the unmarried State Executive Councilor?
2. Do we want to vote a party that do not respect the sanctity of our family institution? (They don't let her to resign ..)
3. Can elected reps say that what ever happen behind closed door is their privacy and do not affect their role as elected leaders?
4. Do we want our children to consume this cultural garbage?

Alor Star or Alor Setar?
Direct translation is Pomerac Stream. The city was named after a stream (alur) branched out from the Kedah River and surrounded by Pomerac trees.

Pomerac tree is known as pokok (tree) Staq (pronounce: stuck) in Kedah accent Malay.
This State Capital history could be tracked back to almost 300 years and one of the oldest city in the region.

Islam was already the official religion of the Kedah state and almost the entire records and related documents could be found written in Jawi (Malay language writing using Arabic characters). The Romanized (or Rumi) characters become a popular choice after the interaction with the British almost a century ago.

The actual Jawi spelling of the city is alif-lam-wau-rho (alur pronounce as "ARE LOCK" in local Kedah malay dialect) and sim-ta-alif-rho (star or pronounce as - "STUCK").
The Jawi-Rumi conversion was an evolution of its own and have undergo few versions since 1950s.
(Note: the arabic letter wau could be used as consonant W and vowels E or O, see the spelling of ALOR could also be ALUR - the currently official spelling in Kamus Dewan).
To date, since Romanized characters are widely used, hardly the Jawi version is referred to.

If back to Jawi, it is ALUR STAR then, but since it is a very old town with old Romanized Malay spelling, ALOR STAR is much more appropriate (Puchong in Selangor will not be rename as PUCUNG!)

Since the Kedah's (PAS administration) government change the spelling STAR to SETAR, PAS or Pan-Malaysia Islamic Party (Parti Islam SeMalaysia) should also consider changing its name to PIS.
Their argument is base on the Jawi initials PA-ALIF-SIN (PAS), but what the heck? They also not referring to Jawi in the above case!

Tich's maternal grandmother or Tok Nda is a descendant of Sultan Abdullah of Perak. Yup, you got it right, the one that been exiled in Seychelles by the Brits.

My wife by default should have Puteri in front of her name since she is a half blood because her father is a commoner. But (I seriously believed), because her father does not want to segregate his kids (got other kids from other mothers that are not Royal at all), nobody have either Megat or Puteri in their name.

Should we adopt the popularity vote instead?
Regardless of anybody hopping anywhere, the Popularity Vote is the one that determined who supposed to head the Executive branch of Government (to form an administration). Let the Legislative (DUN) ratio change because of the Article 10 (Freedom to Associate/Disassociate). But we use the Popularity Vote as the measure of the People's preferred party to administer (not RULE .... Rulers (King/Sultans/Raja) Rule or MEMERINTAH, but People (Political Parties) Administered or MENTADBIR.

What if the one who top the popularity gains less seat (not holds the majority)?
For me it is a better Check & Balance.

Remember Democrats control the Congress while Bush (Republican) was finishing his last year of 2nd term presidency, and how his additional budget for Iraq was turned down by the Congress.

So that every vote is count, regardless the guy that you vote for lost the seat contest, your vote still going to reflect your preferred choice of Executive.

The Dewan Negara (literally "National Hall") or Senate is the upper house of the Parliament of Malaysia. The Senate consists of 70 members, of which 26 are indirectly elected by the states, with two senators for every state in the Federation, and the other 44 being appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King). The Senate reviews legislation that has been passed by the lower house of Parliament, the Dewan Rakyat; both meet at the Houses of Parliament in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. Both houses must pass a bill before it can be sent to the King for royal assent; however, if the Dewan Negara rejects a bill, it can only delay the bill's passage by a year (at the most) before it is sent to the King.

Each of the 13 state legislative assemblies chooses 2 Senators. The term of office is 3 years and Senators can only be re-elected once, consecutively or non-consecutively. And don't forget most houses in few other old tamans in Jalan Ipoh, e.g. the old link house behind The Store Batu 5 (you can see from the outside) hang the pix of their kids with caps, gowns & scrolls (mostly weird gowns without any songket imprint aka OVERSEAS uni gowns). They are voters too .... highly EDUCATED voters

Seriously, we need to review our 'Man Laksa' approach if we want to win back voters, and we need people with an IQ level higher than the room temperature and good EQ to do this!

Life is a highway

The DUKE highway's Greenwood Exit is about 1 km away from our new home.
Suddenly, the tunes of Rascall's Flat, Disney's Cars theme song started playing in my head.
Just something to ponder:
Sometime I feel as if the whole life really like highways, boulevards, avenues and alleys.
You may face a detour here and there.
You may stuck in the massive jam, turning the whole stretch into a huge parking lots.
When you thought that you're almost there, then you'll see the policeman asking you to turn somewhere.
Even worst, when you take the DBP ramp from the Istana Negara road at 6pm weekdays, you know your destination, you know that you gonna be there, but you don't know when!
Just notice that, the pole position car at the traffic light when red is the guy that can't get through during the last green light, they have to stop and wait.

Hmmm .... Happy Tuesday then.

Hijrah 2009

In conjuction with the Awal Muharram we moved to a new place that is not so new.
My wife was bred and raised there for the first 16 years of her life before the whole family shifted to Alor Star.
The house was then occupied by various people, family and tenants for almost full cycle of Chinese Lunar Zodiac.
The place itself is actually older than me!

It is a sad feeling for us when we cleared our Shah Alam's coccoon, we were so used with the area and know almost everyone in the vicinity. The big Akak (KAK G) that sells nasik lemak, Matthias the tailor, the DVD adik, banks people, the 'boss' at the pasar mini that always keep stock of Teh Botol for me, the starbucks crew and many more.

Not to forget the people that we consider as our extended household: Faizal (thanks for helping angkat barang!) and Maria and the kids; Nanna & Family; Mr. Bonggo, Jaja and the Kamari Boys; and all the familiar faces that knows Tich on a first name basis.

I started to feel like Dickens, it is a real Tales of Two Cities (although it is just a change of borough actually).

Anyway, a new place marks a new beginning and two new year celebrations in few days is something very special for our Hijrah, for a better tomorrow.

p/s: I love this new area but I left my heart in Shah Alam.

UMNO Bahagian Batu: Persidangan Semula!

UMNO Bahagian Batu akan menyaksikan pertarungan semula antara calon Ketua Bahagian, Yahya Mat Ghani dan Datuk Yusuff Hamid. Pada persidangan yang lalu (02/11/08), Datuk Yusuff Hamid telah menang dengan 5 undi majoriti. Yahya Mat Ghani telah memohon kepada UMNO Malaysia untuk persidangan semula dan kini segala persoalan tentang kesahihan keputusan persidangan yang lalu terjawab sudah.
UMNO Bahagian Batu akan mengadakan persidangan semula dijadualkan pada 28/12/08 (Ahad). Persidangan kali ini hanya akan menyaksikan pertandingan untuk jawatan Ketua Bahagian. Tentang lokasi dan masa akan diberitahu kelak. Syabas diucapkan, inilah ketelusan yang Pemuda IKS cari dalam UMNO. Kepada Yahya Mat Ghani, selamat berjuang! Today is my precious baby 4 th birthday and this year she wanted Dora as the theme for her birthday celebration. But as mommy and daddy been a bit too busy this few week, we just manage to get the cake with Dora theme but without the party. This year we're just going to celebrate it with few close family friends, and mommy haven't get the chance to buy Tich's her birthday present yet, maybe tomorrow morning mommy will sneak out to buy her present. As for now, this is a special poems mommy want to share with all parents out there....

JAWATANKUASA Kabinet Mengenai Pembangunan Sukan memandang serius terhadap kemerosotan prestasi bola sepak negara dan mahu pendekatan komprehensif dan holistik diambil bagi 'menyelamatkan' sukan itu di negara ini.
Dengan ranking bola sepak negara berkedudukan ke-151 dunia, Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak yang mempengerusikan jawatankuasa itu mengarahkan Kementerian Belia dan Sukan segera berunding dengan Persatuan Bola Sepak Malaysia (FAM).
“Jawatankuasa membincangkan mengenai kedudukan bola sepak tanah air termasuk kedudukan beberapa persatuan bola sepak negeri yang menghadapi masalah kewangan yang tenat.
“Dengan itu, jawatankuasa menetapkan KBS mengambil pendekatan komprehensif dan holistik bagi menangani masalah ini bersama dengan FAM bagi menyelamatkan sukan ini dan melihat pembangunan sukan bola sepak di negara ini berterusan,” katanya.

Who really follow the MSL or Liga Perdana ?

The answer is: no one really follow it religiously other than the football officials, players and sport writers. Just go to any MSL team locker room and you might find them discussing about the Christiano Ronaldo's hand of god act and his infamous sent off incident.

My point is might as well we DISBAND OUR LEAGUES.

It may be radical but that could be the good way to solve the financial crisis of these State FAs. People might say that we need this as a nurturing ground for our national squad and whatsoever. The truth is we love our local team very much but we only show it during the Malaysia Cup semi finals or finals only. The rest we don't care. how in the world that the State FAs could make money? I strongly believe that the MSL was design without taking proper study of the consumer behaviour. There are only some niche market of 'customers' and economically it is not viable to have this all year round.

What we can do?

Sometime when I was in Kedah, I do stop by at the roadside in Alor Semadom and watched this "Rangers" team in action. It almost few years passed by since the day that I can recognized a local macha that knows me on a first name basis. But, what the heck? I found them entertaining. Let the State FAs using the FAM grant to support more teams like the Alor Semadom Rangers, this hopefully might be able to produce more players and give better options to State teams coaches.

Did i mentioned the State Teams? Disband our league and still have the State teams? Yes, FAM should organized the Malaysia Cup on a carnival format that could only take about 4-6 weeks. Best during the time when EPL is on break and not clashing with other major tournaments such as World Cup or Euro. Get the guy from MyTeam or AirAsia or Ahmad Izham Omar to do the selling and create a Malaysia Cup mania full blast during the time, I am sure that the money generated is much more than the current collections.

We could have this State League Champions playing in another short league (must be few months gap with the Malaysia Cup event). And should leverage on the States' runners up as well. The fund should be coming from sponsors or FAM initiatives, just provide the minimal funding to the State FAs and let them become more creative on finding money.

What about the National Team?

I think FAM could send scouts (do we have any?) to the grassroots and select the best players and let them be full time in FAM run training centers, call them Malaysia A, B, C or whatever. But their stint must not be clashing with the State Leagues (suggested to be last max 2 months only). FAM should pay their basic salaries, EPF (hmmm...) and allowances. We pick our top 11 from these players.

Aren't we want to have our own Stars?

Let them play overseas and we should call them few times a year for National Duty. If they are too pampered don't ever adopt the word professional and better just play with the Alor Semadom Rangers instead.

This suggestions however need further analysis and proper study before materializing it. I know that it sounds too harsh and only few people may agree to this but my point is:

OUR LEAGUE ONLY TAKING US TO THE 151st SPOT IN THE WORLD AND WE ARE RUNNING LOSS FINANCIALLY. WHY SHOULD WE KEEP IT?

In the 5th century, whenever the Greeks need any advice on how to live their life, they will get the advice from the Oracle at Delphi. This temple is on top of a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It is an arduous effort to walk up the hill, make an offering to the gods, indulge in mesmerizing music and suffocating in incense and receive the advice by one of the priestesses. The Oracle are believes to be the intermediaries of god, Apollo. Few asked the reason behind the revelation. At that time, Socrates went against the current by constantly challenges the ‘conventional wisdom’ of the Greeks and he is so provocative until his fellow citizens they eventually voted for death penalty for him.

We then come back to our present time, here in Malaysia. Recently, there was a fatwa against Yoga. As usual, there was hue and cry against the said decree. It was declared that yoga is not permissible in Islam due to its appurtenant to Hinduism elements, history and purpose. Religious advisor to the Prime Minister quoted in the Sunday Star dated 30 November 2008 as saying that going against the fatwa is a crime because it is a crime against religion. The non Muslim is advised not to interfere as this is an Islamic affair.

Basically, the message for Muslim is to shut up and just follow the fatwa. As it was mentioned earlier, to go against the fatwa is a crime against religion. For non Muslim, keep out from Islamic affairs as it is none of their business.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, the fatwa Council may have done a thorough research on the subject matter. There is no ambivalent of doubt that they are the expert in their field. I have nothing but honorific words for the Council. But is it necessary for differing view (which leads to differing act) leads to a criminal offence?

Perhaps the sudden decree caught the public off-guard. Some quarters especially Muslims that have been practicing yoga all these years without abandoning their faith (as per their allegation) feel that somebody owes them an explanation.

Somebody is asking the rationale behind the ‘conventional wisdom’, and should we hand them the criminal penalty’? A non Muslim is asking for explanation and we tell them it is none of their business.

We promote that Islam is the way of life; universalia ante rem or a universal concept but when the non Muslim is asking for explanation, we shun them away. I guess this is a giant step forward for a Dakwah effort in Malaysia.

At least Dr. AbdulFatah Haron Ibrahim, the member of Research Panel for JAKIM making more sense in his approach to this conundrum. The Islamic Theology and Philosophical Professor refers to the circumstances that yoga may be haram (New Sunday Times, November 30, 2008). To be fair, there are alternatives in achieving tranquility via exercise that is through prayers. Perhaps it is also a valid question to ask Muslims who practices yoga in order to achieve greater health; why can’t they achieve the same result when they perform their prayers?

In an unrelated issue, at the judicial front, the former Chief justice Tun Abdul Hamid had delivered a speech at the Harvard law School on “harmonization of Common Law and Syariah in Malaysia: A practical approach”. He is suggesting a merger between the civil and the syariah courts, and I quote;

“To determine whether our law is Islamic or syariah-compliant, we should not be looking backward 1,500 years and comparing whether our present law is the same as the law then. The test should be whether it contravenes the syariah principle”

In the land of ‘Malaysia Boleh’, it is quite surprising that the above suggestion draws a lot of flak to say it is ‘tak boleh’. A constitutional law professor from a local university says this cannot be done because Islam is a matter for the states. Another senior lawyer says that this idea is not constitutional. If you follow the arguments deeply, you may realize both emphases on the form rather than the substance. Here we have a man who questions the ‘conventional wisdom’ of why the separation is a practice. Can’t it be done the other way around? If the answer is negative, justify! But please, do not hide behind the form cloak as substance.

If we are saying that Islam is a universal concept; a way of life, can a Muslim admit that a common law principle which is not contradict the Islamic principle as a good law. On the other hand, can a non Muslim accept that an Islamic principle which is in conformity with the ‘universal’ concept as a valid and enforceable as law. Rather than castigating the ‘differences’ and the sinuous concepts of the two jurisprudence, perhaps the time has come to look at the similarities of the two principle. In fact, I do not intend to say that this idea is workable or otherwise but in limine, it is a good provocative thought in the development of legal jurisprudence in Malaysia.

These two unrelated events have one thing in common; it touches on Muslim asking the rationale of the ‘conventional wisdom’. These are definitely not a ludibra ventis; ‘the plaything of the winds’.

Insular minds produce generations of ‘haters of reasoning’. We should persistently question the so-called ‘conventional wisdom’ and to understand the rationale behind the norm.

One school system?

I'm totally agree to this matter. Hope that this is not the "Election Talk" as what Ong Tee Keat said. Tun Razak mentioned this long-long time ago, and Tun Dr. Ismail even went extra mile to propose for dissolving the race-based parties concept in Alliance.

Think it this way, the babies were born the same day in the same hospital, (race and religion is the birth property and the family choice as far as everybody concerns, constitutionally Malay is definitely a Muslim).
The Malays will teach their kids to speak Bahasa, read Quran and basic Islamic principles, so does The Chinese (regardless of religions, the mother tounge is the top priority!) and The Indians accordingly to suit their own cultural and beliefs system.

20 years ago, those kids were growing up watching the same TV, we only have RTM and TV3 coming later on. The fortunate few will own a VCR, but even Malay will rent Chinese Kung Fu movies or Hindustan love epics. Fast forward, now we do have Astro, where the Malays will stuck with Ria, the Indians with Zee or Vaanabil and the Chinese will have Dynasty Package (Wah Lah Toi and etc.);

WE DO NOT WATCH THE SAME CHANNEL ANYMORE!
We are segregating our kids to the limit actually!
But, this is the Information Age, we can't stop that. How to resolve this?

Let them learn and play together outside and coexist.
I'm not saying that put aside customs and beliefs, you definitely have families and religious institutions to shape this. Not saying to stop the Sunday schools, Bible lessons, temple events or kelas mengaji Quran?
Can they learn the same things and act as one .... and practising their beliefs freely?
Isn't that what this Cobbold guy found out and this Reid dude put as a framework more than 50 years ago?
Think so .... because the third principle of our Rukun Negara says that!
Even Singapore don't have this kind of system, that's why we always address them as Singaporeans, not by races.
Can we be just Malaysians on this issue? It is very disturbing when this crime victim lady (no race mentioned here), said in a TV interview, "seorang India lelaki datang dan ...." see, Malaysians decribe people by race first!

Malaysia was once a dominance force in Asia especially in South East Asia. As a respected football giant in Asia, Malaysia was home to one of the oldest football event in the Asean region like Merdeka Tournament. The said tournament was organized in conjunction with Malaysia independence in 1957. Malaysia maintains its dominance in 1950s until 1970s and early 1980s. The success of the Malaysian football includes qualifying for the 1972 and 1980 Olympic.

Malaysia Cup originated from Malaya Cup in 1921. The original trophy was presented by the officers and men of a British battleship of HMS Malaya. The competition was renamed the HMS Malaya Cup in 1933. A new trophy was introduced in 1967 and was renamed Malaysia Cup.

However, the Malaysian football glory is a distant memory. FIFA ranking at the time of this paper is written is 170. To rub the salt to the wound, the said ranking is lower than Chad, Lesotho and Swaziland. According to Rizal Hashim, a veteran Malay Mail sport journalist, state teams are basically run by person connected to the states. The whole set up being run by the state secretary, it can be said that the Malaysian football performance can be attributed to the poor management.

For the last Asian Football Confederation Cup held in Malaysia in 2007, Malaysia was seeded lower than war torn Palestine, Island State of Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, cricket mad nations of India and Sri Lanka. The embarrassing strings of defeats in Asia Cup were dubbed as ‘national disaster’ by the Malaysian public.

Based on the Aljazeera report, the FAM president had refused to step down but instead had fired full cylinders to improve the performance of the Malaysian football team. The Malaysian main stream newspaper, The New Straits Times had invited Malaysian to give our views on how to save Malaysian Football and to react to that invitation, we say; why don’t we commercialize the Malaysian football?

P/S: Kudos to the geniuses in Nike Malaysia. You really boiled up my patriotism.

It's the Thanksgiving Weekend again, a very special holiday, last Thursday of November every year.

FYI,
Thanksgiving is not a religous celebration, it is the day to commemorate the peace treaty between the colonies and the Indians, celebrating the coexistence and sharing, and the tradition of having turkey as the maincourse (legend says the Indians cooked this during the fiesta few hundred years ago) . But, Mommy Aurora said that the turkey is too big for our oven. (Indirect of you need to buy me new oven first before we can roast that bird!)
Supposed to mark the first snowfalls as well, but it's summer all year long here. Hehehe ... (Indirect of no vacation until winter next year).
And the following Friday is the big discount day a.k.a. Shopping Day (they called it Black Friday)

I am very connected with this holiday, since it always falls on my birthday week! Feels like some sort of a special big celebration for me ...

PUTRAJAYA: Kerajaan dijangka menurunkan harga runcit petrol dan diesel sebanyak 15 sen lagi akhir bulan ini, masing-masing kepada RM1.85 sen seliter dan RM1.75 seliter. Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna, Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad, berkata penurunan berkenaan membolehkan rakyat menikmati harga runcit petrol dan diesel terendah selepas kerajaan mengumumkan petrol dijual dengan kadar RM1.92 seliter, mulai 1 Mac 2006 sebelum dinaikkan pada Jun lalu. "Saya jangka kerajaan bakal mengumumkan satu lagi penurunan harga petrol dan diesel sebanyak 15 sen lagi, akhir bulan berikutan aliran harga minyak mentah dunia terus menjunam ketika ini.

"Bagaimanapun, kerajaan tidak boleh menurunkan harga petrol dan diesel melebihi 15 sen seliter kerana kita perlu mengambil kira pelbagai aspek termasuk pemberian subsidi dan bayaran rebat kepada pemilik kenderaan yang kini mencecah hampir RM18 bilion," katanya pada sidang media selepas menghadiri Hari Keluarga Kementerian Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna (KPDNHEP) di Taman Botani Putrajaya, di sini, semalam.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika diminta mengulas kemungkinan kerajaan menurunkan harga petrol di bawah RM1.92 sen berikutan harga minyak mentah di pasaran dunia kini menjunam kepada AS50 setong, sejak kelmarin. Shahrir berkata, kerajaan mungkin memperkenalkan harga lantai bagi petrol dan diesel, iaitu penetapan had minimum harga boleh diturunkan dengan kadar dijangka pada paras harga sebelum penstrukturan semula bahan Jun lalu atau lebih rendah daripadanya.

Beliau berkata, penurunan harga minyak dunia yang ketika ini mencecah AS$50 satu tong, memerlukan kerajaan memikirkan semula strategi mengimbangi keadaan.

Aurora: Harga minyak masih tak stabil, Aurora harap kerajaan tidak akan mengambil langkah terburu-buru untuk menurunkan harga minyak sebab bila minyak turun, rakyat tak berketik langsung, kalau naik...wah!! kecoooohhhh!!! Aurora juga berharap kerajaan berusaha membantu supaya harga barangan juga turun selaras dengan penurunan harga minyak. Jika tidak, tiada makna juga penurunan harga minyak kita. KUALA LUMPUR, 15 Nov - Pegawai Perhubungan Awam (PRO) di setiap kementerian, jabatan dan agensi kerajaan perlu bertindak kreatif dalam menyebarkan maklumat serta peranan agensi mereka secara berkesan.
Menteri Penerangan Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek berkata mereka perlu berfikir lebih kreatif dalam menyampaikan dasar kerajaan kepada orang ramai tanpa bergantung kepada Kementerian Penerangan.
“Kementerian tidak boleh bergantung kepada RTM sahaja untuk sebarkan informasi mereka tetapi perlu cari alternatif lain yang lebih menarik. Sebaliknya RTM juga bersaing dengan stesen televisyen lain,” katanya pada Majlis Malam Mesra Media sempena pelancaran sistem e-Press di sini.
Sistem e-Press adalah perkhidmatan sebaran nota kepada pengarang dan siaran media secara online mengenai aktiviti kementerian, jabatan, agensi kerajaan dan kenyataan rasmi pemimpin negara sama ada di peringkat pusat dan peringkat negeri.Mengulas lanjut, Ahmad Shabery berkata kewujudan blog penulisan yang diilhamkan dari kemajuan teknologi mencetuskan situasi di mana tidak memerlukan organisasi media yang besar untuk menyebarkan maklumat.
Katanya, dalam lima tahun akan datang, generasi muda mungkin menerima blog dan ruangan perbualan seperti “facebook”, “skype”, “yahoo messenger” dan “YouTube” sebagai media aliran utama mereka berbanding televisyen, radio dan suratkhabar.
“Ini cabaran kepada pegawai perhubungan awam kita supaya bertindak lebih pantas lagi. Kalau anak umur 15 tahun sudah ada facebook, tahu guna You Tube, blog…jadi kita memerlukan pendekatan baru dengan e-Press,” katanya.
Beliau berkata Sistem e-Press akan memudahkan dan mempercepatkan sebaran maklumat terkini kepada semua media tempatan mengenai aktiviti pemimpin negara untuk dibuat liputan.

I'm not really a fan of Lee Jeans. But, it was really a good commercial with this Lee Jeans icon in the late 90s called Buddy Lee. It started with the husky narrator voice (still playing in my head) saying: " ... Buddy Lee is Buddy Lee in "Buddy Lee-Man of Action" ... "

I'm not going to talk about this Buddy Lee actually, but I used to work for a real "Man of Action" few years back. He's quite a prominent figure and few of his words worth for a blog posting actually.

Some excerpts from the "Man of Action":

1. Tell you one thing. We can not work with stupid! We ending up correcting the mistakes that this stupid people make and not progressing. Hisham, please get rid of that ba***rd.

Assalammualikum W.B.T.

Alhamdulillah, akhirnya selsai sudah seluruh mesyuarat perwaklian bahagian. Syabas & Tahniah kepada semua 191 Bahagian yang telah bermesyuarat, kepada bahagian2 yang 'terpaksa' bermesyuarat balik saya ucapkan selamat berjuang. Termasuklah Bahagian BATU walaupun keputusan masih kita tunggu sehingga 18hb November (Selasa) ini.

Bak kata perpatah... "Alang-alang menyeluk pekasam, biar sampai ke pengkal lengan"... "Genggam bara api, biar samapai jadi abu"... Bagi saya sama ada mesyuarat balik atau tidak, tidak menjadi masalah kerana ini adalah kewajipan, tanggungjawap dan amanah saya kepada parti itu sendiri yang membolehkan saya memilih pemimpin yang benar2 saya rasakan boleh bekerja. Untuk2 makluman saudara2 sekalian, saya juga adalah salah seorang perwakilan ke Mesyuarat UMNO Bahagian BATU.

Menyentuh kepada artikel ataupun komen yang di buat oleh saudar hisham di atas, saya cuma ingin menyampaikan sedikit pendapat peribadi saya sendiri. sebenarnya bukan ahli2 UMNO di batu ini tidak tau berfikir atau pun dengan izin "bodoh" seperti sangkaan saudara. Tetapi mungkin atas rasa iri hati, tidak rasa kepuasaan dan kematangan di dalam politik membuatkan mereka begitu. Saya pun hanya seorang ahli UMNO yang lulus SPM tetapi boleh berfikir secara waras, insyaallah. Ini semua bergantung kepada ketahanan diri masing2, asam garam di dalam politik ini adalah menjatuhkan dan mengaibkan orang adalah sesuatu yang di pandang 'mulia' oleh sesetengah pihak yang merasakan mereka semuanya benar. Kadang2 kita harus matang di dalam berpolitik, apa yang baik kita jadikan panduan & apa yang tidak baik kita buang jauh2.

Cukuplah apa yang telah Parti UMNO lalui sekarang, bangsa2 lain memandang kita terlalu 'kerdil' sehinggakan UMNO di perbudakan, janganlah kita sebagai orang2 UMNO membuat orang2 di luar sana merasa 'jijik' dengan tindakan memperlekehkan orang UMNO itu sendiri. Pada pandangan saya, cukuplah kita menegur dengan cara berhemah dan penuh dengan adab. Insyaallah, kalau tidak hari ini pasti suatu hari mereka2 ini pasti akan mendengarnya. Yang perlu kita lakukan ialah jangan sesekali berputus asa dengan apa pun jua pengorbanan & nasihat harus di beri kepada yang memerlukan.

Saya rasakan tidaklah patut kita hanya pandai bermain kata2 sedangkan apa yang pernah kita lakukan untuk membantu Parti UMNO?... Apa yang saudara pernah lakukan untuk membawa UMNO ke era kegemilangan?... renung2kanlah.

Di dalam hal ini kita harus bertanya pada diri kita dulu sebelum kita menasihati orang2 lain, apakah kita sudah rasa cukup hanya dengan menjadi ahli UMNO untuk membantu Parti UMNO?... umpanya beginilah... "Ayah kita membelikan kita sebuah buku untuk kita mengulangkaji pelajaran, tapi kita tidak pernah pun cuba untuk mengetahui buku tersebut.... tiba2 dapat keputusan exam kita terus memarahi buku kerana pelajaran di dalam buku tidak sama dengan apa yang keluar di dalam exam".... siapa yang bersalah?...

Pengajarannya amat mudah, buku dah ada kita baca saja & fahami. kita dah jadi ahli UMNO sekarang tiba masanya kita buat kerja untuk Parti UMNO... janganlah baru jadi Ahli UMNO tetapi hanya pandai berkata2 sedangankan dari segi kerja tidak ada apa yang nak dibanggakan...

Apa pun juga saya masih mengharapkan agar semua ahli2 UMNO bersatu, lupakanlah pertandingan. Yang Menang janganlah pinggirkan yang kalah, mari bersatu kita perkuatan parti keramat orang melayu ini. Jangan membuang masa dengan berkata2, 'berkerjalah' demi UMNO.

After The Dust Has Settled 2

It's been two weeks since the UMNO Batu Division Meeting ended, and I've yet to get the chance to write something about it.So today I decided I've to do this.

So the "Battle of Batu" has endded(or so we all hope). Congratulation to all winners and I hope the new office-bearers will work together,(despite their differences) toward a better UMNO. To those who did not win, don't loose hope, it's still far better to choose the path of "be here and do something"; when most of us decided to be just a so called "innocent bystander" and blame things to others except themselves and never even try to do anything.

The truth is, there wasn't any winning or losing last Sunday, because those who compete is just like competing with their own flesh and blood; and Blood is thicker than water. By right, everyone should be happy no matter who wins. And with the hope tahtThe freshly elected office-bearers could over see their differences and decided to honor our sacred party with virtues and values, and have thoughts on reclaiming the dreams of UMNO founding fathers,then all of us is THE WINNER, but if they decided to prioritize on their own personal agenda, the big "L" then will be written on our foreheads.

And again; Just like Patek Phillip, nobody owns UMNO, we are merely taking care of it for the next generation. (or could be for the next office bearers). So, our sole purpose must be to ensure that UMNO is here and relevant for generations to come.

Kemudahan OKU ditingkat

KUALA LUMPUR 22 Okt. – Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) memperuntukkan RM17 juta bagi menambah baik kemudahan untuk golongan orang kurang upaya (OKU) pada perkhidmatan komuternya.

Pengurus Besar Perkhidmatan Komuter KTMB, Mohd. Zain Mat Taha berkata, penambahbaikan tersebut dilaksanakan bagi memberi lebih keselesaan kepada pengguna golongan OKU serta menggalakkan mereka menggunakan pengangkutan awam.
Katanya, peruntukan tersebut melibatkan penambahbaikan di lapan buah stesen komuter di sekitar Lembah Klang.

Ujarnya, penambahbaikan tersebut merangkumi pembinaan laluan untuk kerusi roda, lif penumpang, tandas OKU, pemasangan jubin jenis tact tiles dan baik pulih sistem pembesar suara.“Setakat ini, lapan stesen sahaja yang akan dilaksanakan penambahbaikan itu dan enam daripadanya sudah siap iaitu di stesen Kepong Sentral, Mid Valley, Subang Jaya, Kajang, Bank Negara dan Seremban manakala stesen Rawang dan Nilai dijangka siap sepenuhnya pada tahun depan."

“Bagaimanapun, bagi pemasangan tact tiles, ia akan melibatkan semua stesen komuter dan setakat ini, 60 peratus kerja pemasangan telah disiapkan,” katanya ketika sidang akhbar selepas menghadiri majlis Sambutan Aidilfitri KTM Komuter 2008 bersama anak istimewa di Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur di sini.

Mengulas lanjut, Mohd. Zain berkata, kemudahan bagi golongan OKU tersebut akan dilaksanakan di seluruh stesen termasuk stesen baru seperti ke Senawang dan Sungai Gadut dan dijangka siap pada 2012.

Jelasnya, bagi fasa pertama, penambahbaikan kemudahan tersebut akan melibatkan laluan dari Rawang ke Seremban dan Sentul ke Port Klang sahaja.“KTMB akan menambah baik kemudahan ini secara berterusan bagi memberi peluang golongan OKU menikmati kemudahan perkhidmatan komuter seperti insan normal."

“Selain itu, ia juga adalah sebahagian tanggungjawab KTMB sebagai tanda keprihatinan terhadap pengguna daripada golongan OKU ini,” jelasnya.Dalam pada itu, pada majlis tersebut, seramai 39 pelajar istimewa dari lima sekolah di sekitar Seremban diraikan oleh KTMB.
Selain jamuan makan, pelajar berkenaan diberi peluang mengasah bakat dengan menyertai aktiviti pertandingan mewarna dan menyusun puzzle khas yang disediakan KTMB.

Sempena majlis tersebut, pelajar berkenaan turut diberi peluang merasai pengalaman menaiki TM Komuter.

P/S: Aurora sangat-sangat menyokong tindakan ini. Sepatutnya seluruh Kuala Lumpur dijadikan OKU friendly. OKU friendly bukan sahaja memberi keuntungan kepada golongan OKU, tetapi juga kepada para Ibu-Bapa yang mempunyai anak kecil yang masih menggunakan Stroller. Jika bandaraya kita ini OKU Friendly, pasti semua dapat merasa kesenangannya dan lebih ramai orang boleh berjalan-jalan di sekitar bandaraya tanpa menaikki kenderaan sendiri....

Hari ni Ahli Parlimen Bukit Gelugor,Karpal Singh digantung kehadiran(ke persidangan) selama 2 hari sebab mengatakan Speaker,"main-main dan tidak serius" . (Boleh ke cakap macam tu kepada Speaker?). Macam cakap kepada hakim di Makamah yang beliau main-main dan tak serious. Hebat-hebat....

Speaker Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, berharap semua Ahli Parlimen mengambil iktibar dari pengantungan tersebut supaya lebih menghormati antara satu sama lain tanpa mengira parti serta tidak bertindak biadap.

P/S: Dah la semalam Lim Kit Siang dah bawa Ahli Kumpulan Hindraf yang telah diharamkan itu melawat Parlimen. Today Karpal Singh pula.Apa nak jadi kalau orang yang dipilih sebagai pemimpin, memberi contoh yang sangat "cantik". Kalau yang memimpin "kurang ajar", bagaimana pula yang yang dipimpin. I received countless SMSes and phone calls last Sunday evening regarding the "Battle of Batu". Senders/Callers were split into well-wishers (mostly family and friends outside Batu ... inclusive of PAS and PKR dudes) and contestants from both sides, but the objective and concerns still remains, and circling around the MALAYS SURVIVAL.

I planned to write this for quite sometime, but afraid that it will mislead into campaigning using blogs and violating the UMNO MT's instructions (on guidelines for candidates and campaigning) It was an audacity for me, to contest for the AJK post last Sunday when all odds are against me.So, for those who cast on no. 38 last Sunday, I really appreciate your supports, the vote still counts and always be there en mi corazon.It is a bitter sweet experience, a story that deserved a chapter if somebody writes my biography someday.Without these, our paths will not crossing each others. Just like Patek Phillip, nobody owns UMNO, we are just taking care of it for the next generation. (or could be for the next office bearers).

Another birthday is here. Today is my "youngest" brother birthday. He turns 22 this year(if I' m not mistaken...hehehe...) I just want to say this to him;

Just something to think about...

Today I had lunch with a friend from Australia... Naturally while having lunch, we talk about this and that. one thing that cought my attention was about liquor sales in Australia. I never thought that in a none Muslim country there is such law that they could only sale liqour in a specific store. They don't even have it in 7-eleven.... Even the clubs can only serves liqour until about 11pm... And My Hubby said, even when he was studying in the US the liqour also have limited sale time.

But here in Malaysia, liqour can be bought 24-7... I really wonder why?

A Birthday Wish for Abang...

A cute baby was born to a proud parents.

30 years later,

He is not just a son.

Today is my darling big brother's birthday but I've yet to wish him a very happy birthday.

Again this year I am not able to celebrate his birthday with him.

I just hope that this birthday comes with mana blessing from Allah.

I hope my brother will always be "the big brother" we always look up to.

I wish my brother will have whatever he wished for and even more.

I hope he will always be happy come what may.

Elak polis urus Bank Data DNA

KUALA LUMPUR 27 Ogos - Kerajaan disaran mengasingkan pengurusan dan kawalan terhadap Bank Data Forensik Asid Deoksiribonukleik (DNA) daripada pihak polis bagi mengelak tanggapan negatif serta kemungkinan berlaku penyalahgunaan data.

Datuk Halimah Mohd. Sadique (BNTenggara) berkata, Bank Data DNA yang akan ditubuhkan itu wajar diuruskan oleh agensi kerajaan yang lain seperti Jabatan Kimia supaya tidak berlaku konflik kepentingan.

''Saya tidak berniat mempertikai kewibawaan polis dalam hal ini tetapi bimbang akan timbul persepsi dan tohmahan yang jelas telah dibangkitkan oleh pembangkang yang tidak berfikir lain kecuali persepsi negatif kononnya polis akan menyalahgunakan data DNA," ujarnya.

Ketika mengambil bahagian dalam perbahasan Rang Undang-Undang Identifikasi DNA 2008 pada Sidang Dewan Rakyat di sini hari ini, beliau berkata, peruntukan mengenai pelantikan Ketua Bank Data DNA dan timbalannya di kalangan pegawai kanan polis perlu dilihat semula oleh kerajaan.

Menurutnya, oleh kerana siasatan sesuatu kes jenayah melibatkan kerjasama antara polis dan pegawai pengurusan Bank Data DNA yang juga pegawai polis, maka ia boleh menimbulkan konflik kepentingan.

''Walaupun jawatan Ahli Kimia atau pegawai lain bukan polis boleh juga dilantik tetapi mereka tertakluk pada arahan Ketua Bank Data DNA iaitu pegawai polis," katanya.

Sementara itu, Dr. Tan Seng Giew (DAP-Kepong) berkata, rang undang-undang tersebut dikhuatiri menjadikan Malaysia sebuah 'negara polis' dan keyakinan rakyat terhadap pasukan polis semakin terhakis.

Menurutnya, hampir kesemua perkara dalam pelaksanaan rang undang-undang itu melibatkan pasukan polis dan ia memberi imej kurang baik ketika rakyat meragui kewibawaan pasukan tersebut.

Katanya, kerajaan perlu melihat kebimbangan tersebut secara serius bagi menarik balik pembentangan rang undang-undang itu dan dirujukkan pada jawatankuasa pilihan khas bagi dikaji semula.

''Kita tidak mahu rasa berdosa apabila rang undang-undang ini diluluskan, kita mendakwa mereka yang tidak bersalah dan dihukum termasuk hukuman mati," ujarnya.

John Fernandez (DAP-Seremban) pula mempertikaikan Fasal 25 rang undang-undang itu yang memberi kekebalan kepada menteri dan pegawai Bank Data DNA dalam menjalankan tugas berkaitan, daripada tindakan, guaman dan dakwaan jika ia dilakukan dengan suci hati.

Menurutnya, peruntukan itu terlalu luas dan dikhuatiri kemungkinan berlaku salah guna kuasa.

Terdahulu, Datuk Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) mempertikaikan keraguan pembangkang terhadap rang undang-undang itu kerana ia sebenarnya telah memberi jaminan terhadap demokrasi dan hak asasi manusia.

Selama ini, katanya, pihak berkuasa bertindak dalam hal berkaitan dengan DNA tanpa mempunyai akta yang khusus dan ia boleh menimbulkan keraguan.

Dalam perkembangan sama, Menteri Dalam Negeri, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar menjelaskan, rang undang-undang itu tidak boleh dirujukkan ke jawatankuasa pilihan khas kerana ia telah dibacakan buat kali kedua dan sudah dibahaskan oleh ahli Dewan.

Sementara itu, Yang Dipertua Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia ketika ditemui memberitahu, beliau akan membuat keputusan esok sama ada rang undang-undang tersebut perlu dirujuk ke jawatankuasa pilihan atau perbahasan diteruskan.

P/S: Aurora bersetuju sekiranya Bank Data DNA ini diuruskan oleh Jabatan lain. Kalau Polis ia pasti akan menimbulkan pelbagai masalah dari semua sudut. Aurora juga rasa Rang Undang-undang DNA ini patut dikaji dan di"study" dengan lebih mendalam supaya tiada loop hole.

Anwar Ibrahim angkat sumpah sebagai ahli Parlimen

KUALA LUMPUR 28 Ogos - Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hari ini mengangkat sumpah sebagai ahli Parlimen Pemantang Pauh.

Anwar yang memenangi pilihan raya kecil Pematang Pauh pada Selasa lepas mengangkat sumpah pada pukul 10.05 pagi di hadapan Yang Dipertua Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.

Beliau memasuki Dewan Rakyat pada pukul 9.50 pagi dengan diiringi oleh Penasihat DAP, Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timur), Mohamad Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak) serta beberapa ahli Parlimen dari PKR dan DAP.

Acara angkat sumpah itu hanya disaksikan kira-kira 70 ahli Parlimen iaitu 30 orang dari Barisan Nasional (BN) dan 40 lagi dari parti pembangkang. - Utusan
